The Friends of the Bernards Township Library

The Friends of the Bernards Township Library is a non-profit organization made up of volunteers dedicated to supporting and promoting the Library.

Thanks to support of donors like you, The Friends of the Bernards Township LIbrary have helped make our Library a special place for all who visit. Your donations have allowed us to provide new and exciting programs for adults, teens, and children, as well as cutting-edge technology and important resources including:

  • Hundreds of hardcover books, CDs, DVDs, and audio books
  • The ever-popular children's summer reading program
  • Adult programs focusing on film, art, opera, and stimulating lectures
  • An array of music, theater, education and craft programs for children and teens
  • Presentation technology to help educate and enhance the lives of our patrons

In 2018 we are increasing our support for video content. Library patrons can now borrow current movies FREE OF CHARGE thanks to the generosity of our donors.

Your contribution will help us continue to offer our innovative programs, events, and activities for all ages and interests and ensure that the Library remains an important center of culture, enlightenment, and development in the community. 

You can increase the effectiveness of your gift if your employer has a matching gifts program.  Simply follow your company procedures -- usually a simple form or a quick call is all that is required.  If you donate through the United Way, then you can direct your United Way of Tri-State contribution to the Friends.  Our code is 011826.

Who can volunteer?

Children’s Library: Students in grades 6-12 who possess or are eligible for a Bernards Township Library card.

Library Helpers: Students in grades 6-12. Must be available weekdays from 3-5.

Tech Teens: Please review the Tech Teen requirements. Tech Teens must be in grades 9-12.

The Friends of the Bernards Township Library's Memorial | Honor Donation Program offers patrons the opportunity to donate funds for the purchase of a book to add to the Library's collection to remember or honor a friend, relative, special person, or even a pet.

Consider an Honorary Donation if you are looking for a thoughtful gift to honor a special person, relationships or events in your life or the lives of others.

With a minimum contribution of $20.00, a book in a subject of your choice will be handsomely plated. The Library will notify the person

Donate Items

The Library welcomes your donations of: 

  • books
  • magazines
  • DVDs and Blu-ray discs
  • music CDs

The Library will sort through the donations and make final decisions on the disposition of the material -- add the items to the collection, sell, give to groups in need, give away for free, or discard. 
Please bring your donations to the Circulation desk on the upper level.  The Library will give you a letter acknowledging your donation for tax purposes.   The Library has limited storage space, so please limit your donations to one bag per week.  Thank you!
