The Bernards Township Library offers a wide variety of programming year round. Our Program Coordinator prepares the schedule in advance so that our program offerings remain balanced for all age groups and topics.
When we are not hosting Library programs, local community groups and organizations may be able to use our rooms for meetings if:
- the group is local
- the group operates as a non-profit
- there will be no charge to attendees, who are not required to be a member of the sponsoring organization or group
- there will be no sale of goods or services
- the meeting is open to the general public
- the meeting is not social in nature
- the meeting is not intended to generate business opportunities

The Bernards Township Library probably began sometime between 1751 and 1787 under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. Samuel Kennedy, fourth minister of the Presbyterian Church in downtown Basking Ridge.
The Basking Ridge Free Public Library was incorporated in 1898. This we record as the official beginning of the Library structure we know today, although several significant changes can be noted since then. The Library holdings continued to grow and the library moved several times before arriving at its current location in 1974.
