Printz Award Announced!

The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. It's like the Oscars of Teen Books.

 

This year's winner is Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley.

 

The Printz Committee also names Honor books (ie. the runner-ups).  This year they are:

Publisher's Weekly Best Children's Fiction

Teens' Top Ten

Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and choose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in sixteen school and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on the American Library Association website and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. Readers ages twelve to eighteen will vote online between Aug. 15 and Sept. 16.  This year, 9,000 votes were received and the winners are:

2009 Teens' Top Ten

More than 11,000 teen voters chose Paper Towns as their favorite book in the 2009 Teens' Top Ten! Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teen nominators from teen book groups in 15 school and public libraries around the country choose their favorite books of the previous year.
